Water is such an essential nutrient, that we cannot survive without it, in some form, for more than about 8 days!  We can survive without food for much longer than that, depending on the individual's level of body fat and overall health status, anywhere between 4 and 25 weeks.  The human body is anywhere between 60-80% water, depending on the individual.

Water is somehow involved in every function and chemical reaction in the body.  It is necessary for all digestive, absorptive, circulatory and excretory functions in the body.  It is needed in the utilization of all the water-soluble vitamins.  It helps to transport nutrients and waste products in and out of cells.  It is necessary for the maintenance of proper body temperature.

There are varying opinions on exactly how much "quality water" should be consumed on a daily basis.  We believe that because people are of all different sizes, weights and body composition, everyone should NOT drink the same amount of water daily.  We believe you should drink approximately 1/2 ounce of water for every pound of body weight.  For example, a 200-lb. person should drink 100 oz. of water daily (or 12.5 glasses).  A 160-lb. person should drink 80 oz. of water daily (or 10 glasses).  A 300-lb. person should drink 150 oz. of water daily (or 18.75 glasses).  You get the idea.  It doesn't have to be exact, but this "should" be your daily goal.  This will ensure that your body has the necessary fluids to achieve and maintain optimum health.
If you are not already consuming sufficient "quality water" on a daily basis, we would encourage you to do so as soon as possible, as this can be one of the simplest and most cost-effective ways to improve your overall health status as quickly as possible.
